Playa Las Salinas in Los Narejos

Another dog-friendly beach

A favourite beach of ours is Playa Las Salinas in Los Narejos, just north of Los Alcázares in Murcia. The sand is not great, very salty and also a little muddy in places. However it is one of the few beaches in the Mar Menor that allows dogs on the sand.

You can get to this beach by following the AP7 motorway and coming off at KM786, the turn off for Los Alcázares Norte/Los Narejos. At the roundabout go through the big arch and keep heading straight on until you reach the end of the road. There is plenty of parking around there.

Even though the sand is crispy where the salt has evaporated, and a little silty in places, it is clean. The council clean the beaches of the Mar Menor every day, so there is no rubbish or dog poo.

We always walk up the beach slightly past the beach bar, as the sand gets less silty there. From then on the dog is off the lead and chasing her ball!

When the dog has had enough, or my likely when you have had enough, the Spinosa beach bar is a really nice beach bar to have a drink or even a meal. It is right on the promenade so you can watch the kite surfers, or just other people’s dogs.

The bottom line is, if you live if you live near the Mar Menor area, and have a dog, this is the place to take them. Unlike Playa Canina in Mazarron, this place is really clean and has a decent bar for us humans.
